We offer Bottom fishing trips in addition to our deep sea fishing. Bottom fishing in Costa Rica is done by dropping lines straight down and deep while drifting, as opposed to trolling like deep sea fishing. It is usually a bit more interactive than deep sea fishing, and a bit more consistent.
We like to recommend bottom fishing for families with kids, as the fish are much smaller and easier for the youngsters to handle. They are also usually good at eating. The bait we use can vary but often includes cut bait like squid or smaller fish.

Some species, such as Grouper, are more likely to go for live bait, so we’ll adjust our approach based on what we’re targeting and what the fish are biting on that day. Bottom fishing trips are just one of the types of fishing charters we do with WHISPER FISHING. But they are rewarding!

One of the things that make this jigging technique different from anything done in the past is that all of the rods, reels, lines, and lures must be synchronized in order to achieve the maximum effectiveness. We use braided lines and high speed reel have taken things to a whole new level.
Jigs come in a variety of weights, shapes, and color configurations. Special “dancing hooks” attached to the lure using a short piece of braided line give the jigs maximum movement and make them irresistible to game fish.
